Tips for Proper Packing and Shipping of Audio Headsets

shipping an audio headset

Headsets must be properly packaged to ensure that they can survive the stresses and rough handling that they will encounter during shipping. These audio devices are composed of fragile moving parts and soldered wire connections which can get broken when exposed to vibrations, bumps and falls if not properly padded or cushioned during transport. Here are some helpful tips on proper shipping of audio headsets to ensure that they arrive in good working condition.

Headsets have bands that make them irregularly shaped and bulky. Some even come with protruding microphones and mixer unit. Thus, they need to be boxed to ensure that all parts and accessories are included in the package.  A box, together with packing materials, will also protect the item  from unnecessary movement during transit that can cause damage to the item.

If the headset’s original box is available, use this to ensure safe shipping.  The original packaging will give the device sufficient padding to prevent damages.

If the original packaging is no longer available, use a similarly-sized box that can snugly fit the headset and its components with extra space for packing materials. Wrap the headset in a big Ziploc bag or in bubble wrap before placing it in the box. This will protect the device from the elements and any debris from the packing peanuts. Fill empty spaces with packing peanuts. The headset should not shift or move around when the package is shaken. Close and seal the box with packing tape.

Place the boxed headset inside a slightly bigger shipping box with a layer of packing peanuts in the bottom.  Fill empty spaces on the sides and top with more packing peanuts. The inner box should not shift inside the bigger box.

Close the outer box and seal with packing tape.  Address and label the package and take to your local post office or shipping company.
