Mystery snails, also known as apple snails or ivory snails, are ornamental snails that are gaining popularity as an aquarium pet. These creatures come in a variety of shell colors, shapes and sizes, adding interest to any aquarium setup.
Because of their fragile nature, mystery snails must be properly packed if you wish to ship them to family, friends or other collectors. Here are some tips on how to properly pack and ship mystery snails so that they arrive in their new destination in perfect condition.
Carefully wrap the snail in paper towels. This will help protect the shell from getting damaged.
Place the wrapped snail inside a Ziploc bag. Put water into the bag just enough to get the paper towels soaking wet but not swimming.
Add some oxygen in the bag before sealing it shut. Place the bag inside a sturdy shipping box lined with packing materials like shredded paper or packing peanuts. Add more packing materials on the sides and top of the box to prevent the bag from moving around. Close and seal the box.
Address and label the package and take to your local post office and ship priority mail.
