Chocolate covered strawberries have become one of the most popular edible gifts for any occasion. A box of these yummy treats are perfect gifts for anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, or just to say hi to a friend from afar whom you miss a lot. But because of the perishable nature of the strawberries and the easily-melting trait of the chocolate, these delectable confections must be properly packed before shipping to ensure that they arrive fresh and delicious. Here are some tips on how to properly pack and ship chocolate covered strawberries.
Before packing, make sure that the chocolate-dipped strawberries have completely set by chilling them first in the refrigerator. Then, place each strawberry into a cellophane bag and tie the bag closed with a piece of ribbon.
Arrange the wrapped strawberries in an airtight container. Make sure that the strawberries stay in their places and won’t bump with each other during transit by using tissue paper to fill the container’s empty spaces.
Place the container inside an insulated shipping box together with a frozen gel pack or cold pack to keep the ideal temperature for the strawberries. Never use ice as it can cause leaks and damage the package.
Fill the shipping box with more packing materials such as packing peanuts and crumpled paper to prevent the strawberry container and cold packs from shifting during transport.
Close the shipping box and seal with packaging tape. Address and label the package and take to your local post office or shipping company.
Send the box via overnight shipping or next day delivery to ensure the strawberries will arrive at their freshest.
