The motherboard is an important part of the modern computer and holds many of the crucial components of the system. It acts as the connection point where major computer components are attached to. Just like any other parts of a computer, or any electrical equipment for the matter, the motherboard is fragile and must be properly packed when it is to be sent out for shipping. Here are some helpful tips on how to properly pack and ship a computer motherboard.
1. The best way to pack a motherboard is to use its original packaging. If the original box is not available, the following tips can help in ensuring that the motherboard is packed properly and prevent any unwanted damage to the item.
2. Carefully wrap the motherboard in an anti-static bag and seal the bag with clear tape. These bags, which are usually made of Polyethylene terephthalate, are designed specifically to provide electronic components protection against damage caused by electrostatic discharge. They are available in most shipping supply stores.
3. For added protection, wrap the motherboard in bubble wrap. Anti-static bubble wrap is also available and is best used when shipping electronic devices.
4. Place the motherboard in a sturdy cardboard box big enough to accommodate the item and provide extra space for packing materials.
5. Fill the empty spaces around the motherboard with packing foam or bubble wrap, making sure the item fits snugly in the box and does not move around when slightly shaken.
6. Close and seal the box shut with packing tape.
Don’t forget to address and label the package with “Fragile” and take it to your local shipping company or post office for shipping.
