The electric drill is one of the most popular power tools which can be used in a variety of tasks such as woodworking, metalworking, construction, and other do-it-yourself projects. Portable and easy to use, an electric drill usually comes with different bit attachments for boring holes, driving screws, cutting, and polishing. The device is powered by electricity or a rechargeable battery.
Here are some tips on how to properly pack and ship an electric drill that will help ensure that it will arrive intact and in good working condition.
An electric drill is best shipped in its original case or packaging. This will ensure that the drill and its parts and accessories are well protected from impact.
If shipping without a case or original packaging, remove any bit attachment from the drill and place them inside a Ziploc bag. Roll the power cord neatly and fasten with a rubber band or tie. Wrap the drill in a couple of layers newspaper and then with bubble wrap. Make sure that any pointed part is well padded. Use packaging tape to secure the wrap in place and prevent it from unfurling.
Get a sturdy shipping box that is large enough to accommodate the drill and allow extra space for packing materials on all sides, top and bottom. Fill the bottom of the box with a layer of packing peanuts and place the wrapped electric drill on top. Fill the sides with more packing materials so the drill will not move around. Wrap the bag of drill bits in bubble wrap and place inside the package before filling the box with more packing materials.
Close the box and shake to test if the item inside is moving. Add more packing materials as necessary to prevent the drill from shifting. Close the box and seal with packaging tape. Make sure that the bottom of the box is also reinforced with tape to prevent the package from bursting open during transit.
Address and label the package and take to a post office or your choice of carrier.
