The vacuum cleaner has become an indispensable home appliance for most people. Using an air pump to create a partial vacuum to suck up dust and dirt, the vacuum cleaner is a handy device that makes cleaning floors, walls, carpets and other surfaces a breeze.
The first electric vacuum cleaner appeared over a hundred years ago and has since undergone improvements using a wide variety of technologies, designs, and configurations to offer convenience and effective cleaning. The appliance comes in a variety of sizes and types including canister, wet/dry, hand-held and robotic models.
When shipping vacuum cleaners, proper packing techniques must be employed to ensure that the device arrives in excellent condition. Here are tips on how to properly pack and ship a vacuum cleaner to prevent any damage during transit.
If shipping a pre-used device, clean it thoroughly especially the dirt collecting parts such as the bag or filter. Remove any attachments and wrap them individually in bubble wrap. Also, wrap the device itself in several layers of bubble wrap. Use the original packaging if it is still available and double box in a slightly larger shipping box with packing materials all around. The key is to pack both the inner and outer box with packing materials to prevent movement.
When shipping without the original packaging, use a sturdy box that can accommodate the vacuum cleaner and its attachments with a bit of extra space for packing materials. Arrange the items in such a way that they are protected from the sides of the box with a barriers of packing materials that will absorb any impact. Also, make sure that the bottom and top of the box are filled with a layer of packing materials. Close the box and secure it with packaging tape. Then, double box it with ample packing materials all around.
Attach complete and accurate addresses and labels on the package and take to your local post office or shipping company.
