Swimming goggles are forms of protective eyewear that allow the wearer to see clearly underwater. They are usually watertight to prevent water, whether from the ocean or a chlorinated pool, from irritating the eyes or blurring vision.
Goggles are essential equipment when swimming or snorkeling in the sea to better appreciate underwater marine life. They are also important in competitive swimming because they allow you to see where you are going and thus swim more effectively and free from accidents.
Swimming goggles come in a variety of types, each designed for different purposes such as racing, scuba diving, and snorkeling. They are usually made with polycarbonate lenses, a plastic frame, silicon or neoprene gasket, and silicon or rubber straps. Apart from providing a comfortable fit, the gasket also creates a good seal to prevent the entry of water.
When shipping swimming goggles, they must be properly packed to protect them from damage such as scratched or broken lenses and torn gasket which will render them useless. Here are some tips on how to properly pack and ship swimming goggles.
Place the goggles in the protective cloth bag or case which they came in with. If they are not available, wrap the goggles in several layers of bubble wrap. Make sure that no other hard part of the goggles is touching both the back and front of the lenses. The gasket should also be well padded with bubble wrap and is not deformed in any way during packing. Use tape to secure the wrap in place.
Get an appropriately-sized shipping box and secure the bottom flaps with tape so it won’t burst open. Layer some packing peanuts at the bottom of the box and place the wrapped goggles on top. Put more packing peanuts into the box until the box is full. Shake the box gently to ensure that the contents are not moving, otherwise, add more packing materials.
Close the box and seal with packaging tape. Address and label the package and bring to the post office for shipping.
