A hand mixer is a hand-held kitchen device used to beat, whip, or mix ingredients in food preparation. It can be manually operated, usually with a crank that creates the rotary action when turned, or equipped with an electric or battery-operated motor which automatically provides mixing action when turned on.
This kitchen device is usually small in size and lightweight as it is supported by the user during use. Some hand mixers come with a set of detachable whisks making them easy to clean and store while newer models have their own stand, mixing bowl and a variety of mixing attachments such as whisks, paddles and hooks.
Just like any other motorized kitchen appliance, a hand mixer is fragile and must be properly packed for shipping. Here are some tips on how to properly pack and ship a hand mixer to ensure that it arrives in excellent condition.
Remove beaters or whisks from the hand mixer. Remove any batteries or roll the electric cable and secure with rubber bands or zip ties. Wrap the hand mixer and its attachments separately and generously with bubble wrap. Make sure that all parts of the mixer are well padded. The pointed ends of the attachments should also be well wrapped to prevent scratching the appliance or damaging the shipping box.
Get a sturdy shipping box that is large enough to snugly accommodate the mixer and its accessories with some extra space for packing materials. Fill the bottom of the box with packing materials and lay the mixer on top. Add more packing materials before placing the accessories inside the box. Fill remaining spaces on the sides and top with more packing materials until the items inside are not capable of moving. Close the box and seal with packaging tape.
Address and label the package and take to your local post office or shipping company.
