A flatiron, also called clothing iron, is a small handheld appliance that is used to press clothes and linens. It is one of the most useful home gadgets around and has become a popular gift item to newly weds and new home owners. Flatirons come in a variety of sizes and models, including ones with built in steamer as well as small and foldable ones, which are ideal for traveling.
Just like any other electric home appliance, flatirons must be properly packed prior to shipping to ensure that it arrives in excellent condition. Here are some tips on how to properly pack and ship a flatiron.
When shipping with the iron’s original packaging, make sure that the item fits snugly in its box and does not shake or move around. Use pieces of bubble wrap to fill any void in the box to keep the appliance from moving. Close and tape the box and place inside a larger shipping box with packing materials on all sides.
Make sure that the inner box is immobile in the center of the larger box, cushioned by packing materials on all sides, top and bottom. Close the outer box and seal securely with packaging tape.
If there is no original packaging available, simply wrap the flatiron in several layers of bubble wrap. Secure the wrap with tape and place inside a sturdy shipping box. You can either double box it or, if wrapped generously with bubble wrap, can be simply boxed with lots of packing materials on all sides, top and bottom. Close and secure the box with packaging tape.
Address and label the package and take to your local post office or shipping company.
