Bathroom scales are important devices for monitoring weight. They can be made from a variety of materials including plastic, aluminum, stainless steel, glass, and even wood! These scales can either have analog or digital mechanisms.
Analog bathroom scales typically have levers, dials and springs inside them to determine the weight of the user. Digital scales, on the other hand, are electronically operated to provide weight measurements. Both scale types are fragile and must be handled with care as falls or any form of impact may damage their inner workings. Here are some tips on how to properly pack and ship a bathroom scale to ensure that it arrives in excellent condition.
Wrap the bathroom scale generously with bubble wrap. Make sure that all parts, particularly corners and edges which are prone to damage, are well-padded. Use tape to secure the wrap in place. Scales that are made of glass require extra cushioning.
Get a cardboard box that can snugly accommodate the scale with a couple of inches of extra space for packing materials. Fill the bottom with a layer of packing peanuts and lay the scale on top. Fill the box with more packing materials so that there is no space for the scale to move around. Close and seal the box with tape.
Place the box inside a larger box with packing materials all around. The inner box should stay immobile in the center of the outer box. Seal the outer box with heavy-duty packaging tape.
Address and label the package and take to a local post office or shipping company.
