Just like other video game consoles, the Xbox 360 is a fragile item that must be properly packed prior to shipping to ensure that it arrives intact. Whether sending the gadget to a buyer, as a gift or to the repair center, here are some tips on how to properly pack and ship an Xbox 360 to ensure that it survives the rough shipping environment and avoid damage (or further damage).
An Xbox 360 unit weighs around 10 pounds and can get a bit costly when shipped. A cost-efficient method of sending an Xbox is by using a USPS’ flat rate box. The Priority Mail/Priority Mail Express box 2, which measures 11-7/8″ x 3-3/8″ x 13-5/8 is nearly a perfect fit for the Xbox 360 unit!
Wrap the Xbox 360 in at least three layers of bubble wrap, making sure that all parts are well-protected. Pay particular attention to the edges and corners which are prone to damage. Use tape to secure the bubble wrap in place.
Put a layer of packing peanuts or bubble wrap on the bottom of the box before sliding the Xbox 360 into the flat rate box. Fill any void spaces on the sides and top with more packing materials to ensure that the Xbox will not shift or move inside the package.
Close the package and seal. Secure the flap with packaging tape to prevent the box from bursting open while in transit. Address and label the box and take to your local post office. It is a good idea to insure the item to protect you in case of loss or damage during shipping.
