An electric toothbrush is a battery-operated toothbrush that uses electric power to make the brush head vibrate or rotate/oscillate rapidly to clean teeth effectively. Many dentists claim that using an electric toothbrush is the best way to clean the teeth and prevent the formation of plaque. Its whirring bristles remove plaque better and faster, with more advanced models able to get at hard-to-clean areas unlike manual brushes.
Another advantage of using an electric toothbrush is that it’s nearly impossible to brush too hard as you only hold the brush and let its moving bristles do the work. In manual brushing, you tend to apply pressure and vigorous motion that can cause damage to the gums or remove the protective enamel on the tooth surface.
Electric toothbrushes come in a variety of models some with features that encourages proper brushing. Most modern electric toothbrushes come with timers that only beep when two minutes (the recommended brushing time) are already up, so you tend to keep brushing until you hear the beep. Some models even have sensors that will automatically reduce the power if you start brushing too hard!
One of the major drawbacks of electric toothbrushes is the cost but in the long run, they may be more economical than manual brushes as they need to be replaced far less often.
Electric toothbrushes are usually available in starter sets which include the handle, spare brush heads and the charging base. When shipping, it is best to pack an electric tooth brush in its original box or case and then double boxed in a sturdy shipping box. Here are tips on how to properly pack and ship an electric toothbrush.
Make sure that every component snugly fits inside the original packaging. You may use pieces of bubble wrap to fill any gaps, if any, to prevent movement. Close the box and seal with tape. Place the original box inside a slightly larger box with packing materials on the bottom. Fill sides and top with more packaging material until there is no more space for movement. Close the outer box and seal with packaging tape.
When shipping an electric toothbrush without the original packaging, wrap every component in generous layers of bubble wrap. Secure wrap with clear tape. Arrange the wrapped components inside a sturdy box with packing materials on the bottom. Fill sides of the box and spaces in between items with more packaging until box is full. There should be no movement when the box is closed. Seal all openings with tape. Double box the package as described above.
Address and label the package and take to the post office or shipping company.
