How to Ship a Meat Grinder

Ship a meat grinder A meat grinder is a versatile kitchen appliance used for mincing meats. Many people with restricted diets find grinding meat at home beneficial as they can remove fatty parts from the meat before grinding and have complete control over how coarse or fine the finished product will be.

Apart from meats, these kitchen devices can also be used for grinding vegetables and fruits, grating cheeses, and making bread crumbs. Some even have accessories for making sausages and pasta.

The common types of meat grinders for home use are manual hand-cranked and standalone motorized varieties. Meat grinder attachments for stand mixers are also popular.  All these types of meat grinders come with their own set of accessories including blades, plates, trays, and pushers.

When shipping meat grinders, proper packing precautions must be observed to ensure that they arrive without damage. The grinders and their accompanying accessories are made from a variety of materials including plastic and stainless metal which can damage each other in case of collision during transit. Here are some tips on how to properly pack and ship a meat grinder to prevent any damage and ensure that it arrives in good condition.

Manual grinders and meat grinder attachments are less bulky than the motorized type because of the absence of a motor. To ship a manual meat grinder or grinder attachments, disassemble the device and wrap each part in brown paper. Then, bundle similar items together like blades and plates and wrap tightly in bubble wrap. Also, bubble wrap the other parts.

Arrange the items inside a shipping box with packing peanuts on all sides, top, and bottom. The box should be well packed and the items should not shift around or collide with each other. Close the box and secure with tape. Then, double box it in a slightly larger shipping box with packing materials all around to prevent movement. You may use the original packaging if available.

For motorized meat grinders, disassemble the parts and wrap them individually with brown paper. Bubble wrap the parts as previously described. Being extremely fragile, make sure that the motor part is well padded and protected with several layers of bubble wrap. Then, place the wrapped motor in a box that provides a snug fit. Fill any space with extra bubble wrap to prevent movement. Pack the other parts and accessories in a separate box, fill void spaces with packing materials to avoid movement. Get a larger box that can accommodate both packages and use it for double-boxing. Make that the outer box is well packed with filling materials and the two boxes inside does not move or bang with each other. Secure the package with heavy-duty packaging tape.

Address and label the package and take to your local post office or shipping company.
