How to Ship a Boogie Board

Ship a Boogie Board A boogie board, also called bodyboard, is a type of surfboard used in a surface water sport called bodyboarding or boogie boarding. It is lighter and shorter than the common surf boards and can be ridden in a prone, drop knee, or stand-up position. Swim fins are used for additional propulsion and control while riding a wave.

The average boogie board is rectangular in shape and made from a piece of hydrodynamic foam, sometimes containing a short graphite rod within the core called a stringer. These boards can be customized to meet the user’s preferences such as height, weight, and form of riding.

To avoid damages such as chipping, scratches, and breakages, here are some tips on how to properly pack and ship a boogie board to ensure that it arrives intact and in perfect condition.

Purchase a shipping box that has roughly the same dimensions as the boogie board with extra space for packing materials. A larger box can be cut to shape to provide the board with a snug fit.

Wrap the entire boogie board in several layers of bubble wrap. Use packing tape to secure the wrap in place. Never attempt to ship boards without bubble wrap.

Get some extra cardboard and cut to the same length as the boogie board and tape these strips to the edges of the board. These cardboard strips will protect the board’s most damage prone areas.

Place the wrapped boogie board into the box with a layer of packing peanuts at the bottom. Fill the sides and top of the board with more packing materials. The board should not move or shift around inside the box. In case it does, fill the package with more packing materials until the board stays in place even when the box is shaken.

When shipping other items, such as swimming fins, along with the board, wrap them in bubble wrap first before placing inside the box. Fill the box with packaging materials and make sure that the items will not move and collide with each other during transit.

Close the box and seal with heavy-duty packaging tape.  Attach the receiver’s and return addresses on the outside of the box. Also, attach “Fragile” labels on the package.

Take the package to the post office or shipping company of your choice.
